IDAHO COUNTY REPUBLICAN WOMENS CLUB – August Meeting Minutes 2024

ICWRC meeting was called to order at 12:15 pm on August 12, 2024, by President Cherylyn Kerley

Sue Kinner presented a prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

  • Patricia Menough motioned that the minutes for the July 2024 meeting be approved.  Cristy Imus seconded, and motion passed.

Cristy Imus presented the Treasurer’s report.  Beginning balance was $1146.00 from July and as of today, August 12, 2024, it is $1186.00.  Cristy Imus also passed out an updated contact list.

  • Marilyn Giddings motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report.  It was seconded by Patricia Menough and motion passed.

Senator Cindy Carlson expressed her concerns with school curriculum, library challenges, and which Committee she will be on when she returns to Boise.  Please pray for Cindy and the hard work she is doing on our behalf.

Cami Strasser is involved in a Home School Co-op and won’t be able to make meetings anymore but will stay involved through her Facebook and Web Page duties.

If anyone wishes to attend the IFRW State Meeting in Caldwell September 13 and 14, 2024, please contact President Cherylyn Kerley.

Marilyn Giddings presented the poster for the for the Essay Contest. Marilyn Giddings asked for readers for the essays.  Cristy Imus volunteered her husband, Mark Imus.   Andrea Soltman, Patricia Menough and possibly Cindy Carlson also volunteered.  We could use more readers if you would like to volunteer, please contact Marilyn Giddings.

  • Cindy Carlson motioned to remove unnecessary colons and periods from the poster.  Also, that the grading percentages would be changed to read 70% for clarity of ideas, logic and reasoning and factual accuracy and 30% for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.  Cristy Imus seconded the motion, and it passed.

Heather Moore submitted a list of Candidates for positions in the IFRW.  She asked for our endorsement.

  • Patricia Menough motioned for the ICRWC to endorse the entire slate of candidates for the IFRW state positions.  Marilyn Giddings seconded, and the motion passed.

Patricia Menough asked for volunteers for the ICRCC booth at the County Fair August 21 through 24.  Please contact her if you can possibly work for a couple of hours.  

On September 8th, 2024, Community Plus in Grangeville will be hosting Bill Gaffney who is the State Coordinator for the opposition to Ranked Choice Voting.  This is critical information for the upcoming election.  It is on the ballot as Proposition 1 for Open Primaries.  We are furnishing refreshments so please come and bring what you can.  The ICRWC is sponsoring this along with the ICRCC. 

We have the opportunity to have a speaker from the Pacific Justice Institute come to Grangeville to speak.  We need input for a topic.  Contact Cherylyn Kerley.

Patricia Menough motioned to adjourn.  Cristy Imus seconded, and motion was approved.
